Our Paths Crossed
Kyle and Jessica met in an English class at the University of Michigan-Dearborn during their first semester of college. Throughout the semester, they spoke to each other for at most, five minutes. After the semester ended, they didn’t have any more classes together and went their separate ways.
Fun fact: Kyle later realized that he didn’t even need to take that class!
June 2019
Our Paths Crossed... Again
Kyle saw Jessica in the congregation at St. Thomas a’Becket, and he invited her to attend his band’s praise and worship concert there. Jessica couldn’t make it, but that started many conversations, one of which led to dinner in Downtown Plymouth a few weeks later.
Fun fact: They went to Barrio in Downtown Plymouth!
July 7th, 2019
The Adventures Began
On July 6th (literally the day before), Kyle asked Jessica if she was interested in a spontaneous kayaking adventure. Even though it was last minute and Jessica had only kayaked once or twice before, she said yes! They went tandem kayaking at Gallup Park in Ann Arbor as their first "official" date.
Fun fact: Kyle didn't tell Jessica he took this picture of her until one year later. He promises he wasn't being creepy. Additionally, Jessica now realizes she missed a major sign that Kyle runs everything last-minute.
September 7th, 2019
We Made It Official
Throughout the summer, Kyle and Jessica went on more dates and adventures, building a strong friendship together. On September 7th, they went to dinner in Detroit and walked along the Riverwalk afterwards. There, Kyle asked Jessica to make their relationship official, and Jessica said yes!
Fun fact: Neither Kyle or Jessica had any idea what they were doing or what being in a relationship looked like. They were each others' firsts!
For The Next Four Years...
The Adventures Continued
Kyle and Jessica quickly realized that staying in, relaxing, and watching TV weren’t for them. They filled their days with outdoor adventures. When it was warm out, they could be seen hiking nearby parks around Metro Detroit, or distant parks scattered throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, Florida, and Massachusetts. Summer activities also included camping, paddleboarding, fishing, picnicking, fruit picking, mountain biking, and kayaking/canoeing. Jessica’s love of snow rubbed off on Kyle, and in the winter, they found themselves snowshoeing, skiing, and snowboarding. If the weather didn’t cooperate, Kyle and Jessica enjoyed baking desserts together (except for cannolis… that was a one time thing).
Fun fact: Their first solo camping trip together was to Ludington State Park!
August 12th, 2023
We Became Engaged
After almost 4 years of falling in love and many adventures, Kyle proposed to Jessica on Belle Isle! Jessica was completely surprised, and said yes! Both Kyle and Jessica’s families were in on the surprise and were there to witness the proposal!
Fun fact: Kyle and Jessica took their first picture together on Belle Isle almost exactly four years prior - August 11th, 2019
